Etiquette

We serve our coffee in a regular cup or demi-tasse with saucer rather than in a mug which is usually associated with an informal way of drinking coffee.

You may know it already that coffee cups have a straighter and narrower rim than the teacups but are accompanied by teaspoons.  However, cold coffee drinks are served in long glasses accompanied by spoons with a longer handle to stir your coffee.

If you love cappuccino, you will have noticed that the cup is more rounded to hold the creamy coffee within.

We would not stick the pinky finger out when holding the cup, neither would we shake the cup like we do with a glass of red wine.

Regarding the spoons, licking or even leaving the spoon in the coffee cup means no etiquette.  Just place the spoon behind the cup after stirring your coffee.

Good manners indicate drinking water before your coffee and not after, unless you do not like the coffee!

Finally, do not put your biscuit or croissant in your coffee (unless it is early morning and you are having your croissant with café au lait! Although a cappuccino would be ordered in Italy only for breakfast and never after (according to etiquette) , we offer cappuccino till closing times in our MOSANKO coffee shop!
